Structural steel, fabricated to the drawing and installed by our own team
Beams, columns, goal posts and full frames for extensions, loft conversions, knock-throughs and new builds. We work from your structural engineer's drawings, fabricate everything in our workshop in Stony Stratford, deliver it to site and install it.
What we fabricate and install
- Universal beams (UB) and universal columns (UC) for openings, knock-throughs and ridge beams
- Goal post frames where a wall is coming out and the opening needs to carry the load above
- Padstones, bearing plates, bolted connections and splice plates
- Steel frames for single and double storey extensions, garden rooms and outbuildings
- Loft conversion steels, including long beams split and spliced to get them up the stairs
- Flitch plates, lintels, box frames and cranked beams
- Steel for commercial and agricultural buildings, mezzanines and canopies
How a structural job runs
- You send us the engineer's drawings or calculations, or just photos and a description if you are at an early stage
- We price the job and, if useful, visit site to measure up and check access
- Steel is cut, drilled, welded and primed in our workshop, with connection details checked against the drawings
- We deliver to site and install, including temporary propping where needed, or hand over to your builder
- Galvanised or painted finishes are available for anything exposed to the weather

Common questions
Do I need a structural engineer before I contact you?
For anything load bearing, yes. The engineer specifies the beam sizes and connection details and we fabricate to that. If you do not have one yet we can recommend engineers we work with regularly around Milton Keynes.
How quickly can you supply steel beams?
Standard beams are usually fabricated within one to two weeks of the drawings being approved, and sooner for urgent jobs where we have the section in stock. Tell us your dates when you enquire and we will be honest about what is possible.
Can you get a long beam into a loft or through a house?
Usually. We can split a beam into sections with bolted splice plates designed by the engineer, so the pieces can be carried through the house and joined in position.
Do you install the steel as well as make it?
Yes. Most of our structural work is supply and fit. If your builder prefers to install, we can supply only and provide a connection schedule.
